For my career day this year, I shadowed Chris Berarducci, who was the manager for a design company called Vital digital. They design logos, websites, and manage those websites with things like SEO and web development. They also handle marketing through things like facebook ads and instagram ads. While I was there, I got to talk to a lot of the people who worked there, including people in graphic design, in web development, and even team management. I learned a lot about how an office works, or at least how this office worked, and how they controlled clients websites, marketing, etc. I think it was a really cool experience to be able to see how this office ran first hand, and how each individual does their job. They had openings for interns as well, and that's definitely something I might be interested in for next year when we do internships.

One of my job specific questions:
What does a finished product from here usually look like?
What in your educational background most prepared you for your job?
- His MBA in business and marketing helped him be most prepared for his job here at Vital design. He had originally worked at qualcomm (the telecommunications company), and got a lot of experience from that as well.
How do you interact with other people during your work day?
- They use a lot of instant messaging and use a program called zoho that organizes all of their work, says who needs to do what, and acts as a timer to log hours. It basically just manages each persons tasks for the day and is a great way to stay organized
To what extent do you find your work interesting and fulfilling and why?
- (Graphic design department): he truly loves what he does. He gets to go to work and do what he likes to do, and that makes him happy. There is also sometimes a little bit of a risk when he turns projects into his clients, especially when they don't give much guidance. He says when he turns in a finished assignment that he is proud of, and the clients like it, he is really happy and proud of what he did. Thats what really makes his job so fulfilling, and it allows it to stay interesting.
Is this a typical work day for you? If not, what is a typical work day?
- It was a fairly typical work day (except for me being there), and they are usually in front of computers for most of the day doing what ever it is they need to do. Things are often changing there. and they usually move on to different projects every couple weeks, usually working on more than one at a time. On a normal day, Chris would be supervising the office, helping any department if they need it, and doing some of his own work as well.
What advice do you have to young people who are interested in this profession/field?
- To get as much experience as possible, and to use the resources that you have. Things like today, shadowing somebody in a profession your interested in, is a great way of doing that. Theres also so much free content online, especially videos you can find on youtube and other platforms that give any insight or information. All in all, it can really help to take advantage of that. Another important thing to think about if your going into this field is being able to adapt quickly. Things are constantly changing in this industry, and if you cant keep up, it'll get to you.
One of my job specific questions:
What does a finished product from here usually look like?
- The finished product is really dependent on the client, and their salary for whatever they need us to do. We mostly focus on marketing and getting their name out there, along with SEO and getting their names at the top. We also design websites and logos, it really just depends on what the client needs. Their budget also matters because if were doing facebook ads, and they have a $100 a day budget for those ads, we have to regulate it more than if the budget was $500, or less if it was $20 a day.
