Look at me Now Reflection
This project was actually fairly challenging for me because I had to go out of my comfort zone a little bit and challenge myself to think about new topics that I generally have not had to think about in other grades. I had to think about my race, ethnicity, and culture, as well as my passions, and my struggles and successes. It was hard for me to really think about some of these topics, because I really just needed to think about it full on with no distractions, which can be difficult for me. It took me a bit longer than I thought it would to answer all of the questions, but I eventually finished and I think it turned out pretty good. Another struggle I had with this project was finding something to use as a poster board. I didn’t want to use poster board because that didn’t represent me, so I eventually decided on using an old longboard deck. I love longboarding, but not only does it represent that, but it also kind of represents my freedom and means of transportation. Once I decided what to put it on, another problem I ran into was fitting it all on there, but I used both sides and somehow managed to get it all to fit.
The easiest part of this project for me was discussing and presenting the Look at me Now. I didn’t really have any issues discussing what I wrote, and it kind of gave me a chance to let others know a bit more about me. It was fun talking about my passions, because I love sharing what I love to do. Another easy part of this project for me was writing my symbolism paragraph. It is fun for me to share what I like to do, and that paragraph gave me a chance to do so. I talked about my drumsticks and my camera as symbolism for me, and those 2 things are among some of my passions.
I felt comfortable during my presentation of my Look at me Now. Although some of it was kind of personal, I had no issue sharing it to the class, and actually enjoyed sharing some parts of it. Some other parts of my Look at me Now are tougher to share, but I still feel comfortable enough to display it for others to read.
I received lots of feedback from my parents, and students. All of the feedback that I got was helpful, and it helped me fix some of the things on my Look at me Now poster, as well as my presentation skills for next time.
I think that I provided kind, specific, and helpful feedback when I critiqued two students Look at me Now posters and presentation. They both did a good job on presenting, and their Look at me Now posters were well done. I gave a little critique on some little presentation flaws here and there, but nothing major. I hope that the critique helped them improve their posters, and their presentations.
I think that I was on task for most of the work time given, but there were definitely some times where I strayed away from the topic at hand. If I was ever off task, it was only for a few moments at a time, and I still got all, if not most of my work done in class. The only stuff I really did at home for this project was taping my paragraphs to the skateboard that I used as a poster board.
I think I deserve an A for this project mostly because of my creativity on my poster. I think that I did a good job coming up with creative content, and using some of my own pictures on my poster.
If I could change something about this project it would probably be requiring people to use something other than poster paper. This would get everybody to make a final product very different from everyone elses. I think that It would also push them to think more about it and be more creative.
