I learned a lot about Italy all throughout this project. When we first started, I didn’t know how much of the stuff we use on a daily basis that Italy actually invented. Things like jeans, espresso machines, telegraphs (which paved the way for telephones), and a lot of other things. I also learned a lot about Italy's culture and people. I had no idea that nearly half of the worlds art could be found in Italy, and that Italy is basically living history. They have so much culture there, and researching Italy made me want to visit it. Their people are also very friendly and welcoming, which is one of the things I learned when I was writing my persuasive essay.
My group and I recreated the radio telegraph. We decided to recreate this item because it was very revolutionary at the time, and thought it was a good representation of Italy's technological advancements among other countries. I am glad I chose to recreate this item after seeing the final product because I think it turned out really good, and I am proud with the final product. The telegraph worked and functioned like a normal telegraph, with a light that flashed everytime the button was pushed. Granted, it didn’t transmit signals to other telegraphs, but we figured it would be fine for the purposes we were using it for.
Our prototype process was an important step in the overall creation of our radio telegraph. It paved the way for how we would design our final draft, and allowed us to map out exactly what we wanted it to look like and how it would work. We found images online of radio telegraphs and copied those, while still making it our own in certain ways. Instead of a bell or ding noise, we assembled the telegraph to flash a light bulb instead of having an audible noise. This worked out best because the speaker we tried to hook up didn’t work out like we wanted it to, and it was very loud during exhibition anyways, so the light was more of a visual representation.
Based on what I saw at exhibition, I would definitely be interested in learning more about Germany and their history. Although our Worlds Fair took place before World War II, Germany still had a lot of technological advancements, especially with their automobiles. Germany may have been the leading country in automobiles and cars at the time. They had companies like BMW, Audi, Mercedes Benz, Volkswagen, and more. I think this would be really interesting to research and learn more about.
I feel really proud about the work I put in for this project, and our final outcomes. I think that our prototype and actual telegraph turned out really good, and we all did a good job of participating during exhibition. My group was fairly large, so it was tough for us all to get a word in, but I think we did a good job of splitting the work and the participation evenly. Overall I feel really good about how this project turned out and am glad we did what we did. Our booth:

Overall I think exhibition went really well and we received good feedback from it. We tried to give off that authentic Italian vibe from our booth, from the decorations, to the posters, and we even had diego play some classical music on the piano behind us. Our booth was well received and I think it turned out really good. If I could change anything about exhibition though I would change the duration of it, because I feel like it was dragged on a little to long, and we were pretty burnt out by the end of it. All in all though I think it went really well.
