Intellectual Absolute Zero Reflection
1) I had Mau and Luan in my group. We all worked really well together and collaborated. We split up the work fairly evenly and has a good group dynamic. I mostly worked on the presentation with slight help from the group, where as Luan and Mau mostly worked on the zine, with slight help from me. By splitting up the work, we got it done faster and more efficiently. I was gone the week of exhibition, but I still worked on things while I was away. I kept in contact with my group and made sure I could work on what I needed to online. I also missed exhibition, but I did the make-up assignment.
2) I learned a lot in Humanities over the course of this project. We learned more about dystopian societies and totalitarian regimes by reading Fahrenheit 451. I also learned a lot about totalitarian regimes when I researched for my own regime (The South African Regime), and by listening to other people present their presentations. These presentations were chock full of information about their country at the time, and who was in rule. It was also very interesting to see other peoples zines and how they incorporated their controversial topics into them. Our controversial topic was Marijuana Legalization. I learned a lot while researching this also, like it's health side affects and its health benefits. I used humanities thinking throughout this project by keeping a creative lens on what I was working on and trying to be original with my work.
3) I also learned a lot in Physics. We learned about thermodynamics, and phase changes. It was interesting to hear how things phase change through different "phases". Things can go from solids to liquids to gas's all depending on their temperature. We also did a phase diagram, which was what a normal phase diagram would look like, except of phase changes, it showed how the story of Fahrenheit 451 unfolded, and who was the most secluded all the way to who was the most free character in the book. It was a very creative way to merge to two classes together. I used Physics thinking in this class by thinking like a scientist and constantly observing and taking notes.
4) Lastly, I learned a lot in engineering as well. The application of physics was very present in this class during the project, because we were working with phase changes here too, and the sterling engines used physics as a background to how they work. While working on our sterling engines, I had a lot of success and failures. I had success when I made the crankshaft because for me, that was the hardest part, and It felt good when it was working and everything was balanced. I also had failures when working on the PVC pipe and the balloon because the balloon constantly got a hole in it when we attached the drive pushrod, and the PVC wouldn't stay on the can for our first 2 tries of glueing it on.
5) I think that even though I wasn't at exhibition, I still offered a lot to my group while I was away. I helped with the presentation while I was gone, and worked on the zine while I was still here. I would overall grade myself an A for the whole project. My work ethic was very strong, and I was constantly asking questions or responding to questions from my group. I also collaborated well with my group and we split up the work very evenly. For the oral com, I think I did a good job presenting and splitting up the presentation with my group. My content knowledge was good, but could have been better sense I wasn't here the week of exhibition. I am best at learning visually or hands on, because I am the most engaged, but I am not as good at audible learning sense I am not as engaged and cant focus as much.
