Equity-Librium
Project Description (Link)
The "Equity-Librium" Project was something different than I have done in the past. This was steered towards building a physical product, although in most projects at this school (Or at the middle school, being that this is my first high school project) were online, or some virtual product. I liked this method of project just as much, if not more because it was a very hands on way of learning
Reflection:
1) At the beginning of the project, I figured I was probably going to get a bad grade because I had no idea how to balance a mobile, but I ended up actually figuring it out. Just working with my group and trying to figure it out helped, and we came up with multiple solutions like using nuts and bolts instead of beads. That idea actually helped a ton in the process of making this because we needed something heavier to hold it down.
2) At first, I didn't understand torque at all, but after I finished the mobile, it ended up making sense. I think that when you actually make a physical product and have a hands on learning experience, it actually helps with learning the topic.
3) Although Spanish wasn't super incorporated into the overall project, it was still a very important part of the project. This is because when Spanish speakers walked up to our booth, they really appreciated the fact we had Spanish translations, although they probably spoke english. To them, they were happy to see it because they know that we are putting 3 classes into one product and see the overall importance.
4) The humanities portion of this project was probably the biggest portion, if not equal with Physics. It connected all of the things we did, like the word we chose. The word was probably the most important part of the project because that reflected all of the decisions we made after it. Our word was passion, and I am glad that we chose that word. If we didn't choose the word passion, all of the symbols after that would have been completely different, and so would our thought process throughout the project.
5) I was in a group of 3, and i collaborated really well with one of my partners, but not so much the other. I got along well with one of them, we didn't argue, and had mostly the same ideas towards the project. The other partner didn't really help much and just sat there while we did the work.
6) This exhibition was really different from the ones I had done in the middle school. It was in more of a public place and there were lot's of people there (although they weren't just there for us). It was out of my comfort zone a bit, but I still had fun and thought it was a good idea having it at a fair. The one downside I experienced is some people asked questions way off of the topic, and you were somewhat lost for words depending on what they asked.
7) For an overall score, I would give myself an A+. This is because it was just my partner and I in a group of 2 while everyone else was in groups of 3, and we still managed to finish before the deadline. I also didn't argue or shoot down any ideas, and there was hardly any wasted time. For me, my biggest take away from this project was probably to work with what you have and use your resources. Not only your resources, but also your individual skills, because thats how me 2 person group managed to finish.
