Music is a very important part our lives. It plays a very beneficial role in our everyday life, and we probably don’t even realize it. Think about your favorite genre of music, or maybe your favorite song, and think about how that genre or song makes you feel. Happy? Sad? Energized? Well, In this article, I am going to cover how big a role music plays in our lives, and how it affects our moods.
Have you ever gone out somewhere, possibly a restaurant or the mall, and heard music playing? Chances are you have. Restaurants, retail stores, festivals, fairs, they all have one thing in common. Music is always playing! This is mostly because they are trying to set the mood while you're there, probably as an attempt to get you to stay longer or buy more. So next time you leave the house, listen out for music!
Not only is music used as a marketing attempt, it’s also used as a lot of other tools. An example of one of these tools would be memorization. When something is put to the beat of a song, it’s much easier to memorize. But why? Well, music actually changes your brain waves, which in turn can affect your mood. Depending on the type of genre, it can either positively or negatively affect your mood. Music can also affect your heart rate and your heart beat. In fact, the beat of a song could literally make you more pumped and energized. Rock, Metal, Heavy Metal, etc. It can all make you more pumped for life!
Don’t believe me? A lot of times, music doesn’t actually affect moods (Or heart rates, or brain waves), it really just depends on your attitude at the time, and your personality, because it doesn’t work with everyone. For most personalities though, music can really uplift your mood and potentially pump you up!
Generally speaking, this method of “music remedy” is actually been found quite effective on certain patients. A lot of people who have suffered through depression have actually found that music positively affected their mood and are slowly getting over depression. It’s crazy, but it really works with a lot of different people. Patients who suffer from seizures as well have also benefited from this “musical remedy”
Hopefully, after all this, you learned a thing or two about how big a role music plays in our lives. Next time you head out somewhere, listen out for music playing in certain places. Restaurants, stores, events, etc. It’ll be playing! And if you ever want to uplift your mood just a little bit, give this method a try!
